How Bartenders Can Triple Their Tips
By Jeff Beale
Service to the customer is what is all about.... the more you provide.... the more your tip. T.I.P.S. (To Insure Proper Service)

The name of the game is making money, that's why we are behind the bar. So, the more you can do for the customer, the better off you will be when it comes time to count your tips.

Following are some ideas that have worked well for me and others that have taken up as a profession:

1.Let customers talk about themselves; it makes them feel important.
2.Always smile and be courteous.
3.Keep up with daily news events.
4.Suggest menu items that you know are good if they are dining in your establishment.
5.Treat everyone as if they were your friend.
6.Light cigarettes, suggest refills, offer snacks, tell jokes in good taste and look sharp at all times.
7.Leave your personal problems at home.

Tips and techniques learned at schools such as the National Institute should not be forgotten when working at the bar. When remembered, a bartender can double income instantly.

The

National Institute is a private hospitality school devoted to the training of personnel for the profession in the Atlanta Georgia area. More about the school can be found at www.nationalbartendinginstitute.com
